The lift of suspension is effective as of Tuesday, March 19.
Permits for hazard reduction burning are required for residents that meet the following criteria:
Residents are required to meet their local council regulations for hazard reduction burning.
Visit Maitland City Council's website or contact them on 4934 9700 to find out if you comply.
Those interested should also obtained a copy of Before you light that fire from the NSW RFS website or by contacting the Lower Hunter Fire Control Centre on 4015 0000 during business hours.
It is important to gain environmental approval, if required, and contact the local fire permit issuing officer to obtain a permit.

Don't forget to notify all adjoining landowners and occupiers, as well as your local fire authority at least 24 hours prior to lighting.
Finally, check the weather conditions on the day you wish to light a fire are suitable.
