Dogs In The Park NSW founder Chris Boswell said it was a hugely successful first event at Maitland Park on Sunday. "We ended up with 7868 people in attendance," he said.
"We were only expecting 1000. It was a very successful event. We were so happy that everyone embraced it from the local area. We have already been asked to come back in 2020."
The not-profit organisation started in 2016 in the Central Coast but started branching out to Newcastle and Penrith last year.
This year, the organisation will host 16 events across NSW. Mr Boswell said there was a range of activities on the day including dog competitions and industry demonstrations.
"The Maitland community was very impressed. The highlights included a raffle on the day which raised $160," he said. "We also supported the local dog rescues, and local businesses."
