Telarah locals have raised $4785 for cancer research - the result of a joint effort from residents, business operators and a couple of locals prepared to lose their locks.
Chloe Tomlinson, with her mermaid-like hair, and Raymond Tuckwell, with his bushranger beard, have both been touched by cancer and agreed to lose their luxuriously, long locks to raise money for the World's Greatest Shave.
The event, organised by staff at Telarah Pharmacy, took place at Telarah shopping centre last week.
"Friday was a huge success, we are still buzzing with the fantastic turn out and result," a spokesperson for the event said.
"As a community Telarah raised $4785."
The money raised comprised - $2112 via the pharmacy donation link, $1617 from a barbecue and bake sale, $231 from Telarah Public School's crazy hair day and $825 from an in-store raffle.
About 100 people attended the charity event with Chloe's family traveling all the way from Queensland to surprise her witness her hair cut.
Organisers thanked sponsors - Devotion to Hair, Reid's Butchery, MKT removals and IGA Telarah.
