Pitchu and Poncho put on their tassels, saddle and their best smile and took a walk down the main street of Morpeth to raise awareness about Connor Lynch's vision battle.

The sixteen-year-old Linuwel School student has chronic eye disease and is blind in his right eye. It's something he has been battling most of his life, but now things are becoming even worse.

The vision in his left eye is deteriorating and he is struggling to be able to see clearly as he conducts his daily activities.

He has his hopes pinned on eye surgery in Boston. The venture is expected to cost about $70,000 and so far just under $9000 has been raised.

Connor loves bike riding and other outdoor activities and knows losing his sight would change his life forever.

Common Grounds cafe at Morpeth has chipped in to support him and has urged the community to drop some change in their donation tin, or give generously online.

"We have a very tight-knit community and our regular customers have been dropping in the change from their coffees and donating to the cause," manager Tammy Toth said.

The llamas offered kisses and posed for photos in return for a donation to the cause.

"Pitchu was very affectionate and giving all of the ladies kisses," Ms Toth said.

He was happy to go up to them, he is a bit of a ladies man. It was entertaining to watch.

"They weren't shy. They were lapping up all of the pats from everyone. It's not every day you see two llamas walking along the street.

"Morpeth is the perfect place to do something like this - all of the shops are in Swan Street. They did the lap up and down the street. One of our customers up the end of the street made sure the llamas had water and helped them get their saddles on. The kids got to have a pat, it was really sweet."
