East Maitland Fire Brigade kept revellers cool with water mist as the temperatures remained in the 40s for much of the afternoon.
Children delighted in the range of activities available - from exciting rides to playing the clowns and blowing bubbles.
The only thing missing from the annual event was the fireworks display at 9pm.
Maitland council cancelled the fireworks on Monday after a meeting between Maitland Council, representatives from Fire and Rescue NSW, NSW Rural Fire Service and the pyrotechnicians.
They reached a consensus position that current and forecast conditions would mean proceeding with the planned fireworks would present an unacceptable level of risk to both the safety of the event and the community.
Maitland councillors will decide when the fireworks display will take place.
