Colin Woodward said he and his family were disappointed at a recent family gathering in Maitland Park where they had to search for a barbecue in working order.
They were also upset that toilets at Stockade Hill were regularly locked.
A spokesperson for council said the toilets at Stockade Hill Park have been closed permanently in recent times due to antisocial behaviour and repeated instances of vandalism.
"Council is currently investigating options but is yet to make a formal decision about the way forward in addressing this matter," the spokesperson said.
"Council contractors check the Maitland Park's electric barbecues on a weekly basis and if there were operational issues, we apologise to Mr Woodward for that.
"If any users experience issues we encourage them to contact council so the issue can be resolved promptly."
