Port Stephens Hunter police officer in charge Rob Post said police received several calls about 1.30pm relating to "specific explosive devices" said to be placed in the shopping centre.
Woolworths and surrounding shops were cleared while police conducted a search, but thankfully, nothing was found.
Police are making inquiries to identify the person who made the calls.
