A man has been charged with breaching an AVO, drug possession and issued with a Public Health Act infringement after an incident at East Maitland.

Police were called to a premises in East Maitland just after 9.30pm on Saturday in relation to an alleged breach of an AVO.
Upon arrival, police spoke to and arrested a 26-year-old man. When questioned, police claim the man was unable to provide a reasonable excuse for being away from his place of residence.
The man was charged with breach of an AVO and possession of a prohibited drug. He was also issued with a Penalty Infringement Notice for failure to comply with noticed direction under Section 7 of the Public Health Act.
The 26-year-old was refused bail by police and faced Newcastle Local Court on Sunday, where he was granted conditional bail to appear at Raymond Terrace Local Court in May.
