TWO dedicated Maitland librarians have marked a milestone after racking up nearly a century of service to the community between them.

Maitland City Library team members, Peter Woodley and Olga McTackett have celebrated 40 and 50 years respectively, of service to Maitland Libraries and the community.
Ms McTackett started with Council on August 10, 1970 as a library assistant.
"My Dad took me to the old library [opposite Maitland Town Hall] when I was six or seven, and that was the beginning of my love of reading," Ms McTackett said.
"Libraries involve the community. It's a free service and everyone can access it from young to old.
"There is not a day where I haven't wanted to go to work."
She was recognised for her excellent service to the community in 2018 when she received the NSW Service Medallion in a ceremony at Parliament House.
Mr Woodley started with Maitland Council on August 5, 1980 and was the city's first male deputy Librarian.
"I love being so embedded and giving something back that is good for the community. I'm happy to help promote libraries values of literacy, knowledge and freedom of information," Mr Woodley said.
"I didn't anticipate staying in Maitland for 40 years ... My role has changed so much.
"I'm happy to help promote libraries values of literacy, knowledge and freedom of information.,
Maitland City Council will be recognising the pair's incredible community service, along with other long serving staff at a celebratory morning tea next week.
