Lynne Swanbrough was in disbelief when she found out she was winner of The Levee Car Giveaway.
In fact, she said she initially thought it was a prank call when she found out.
"After the year we've had, this has made it a little better for me," Ms Swanbrough said.
Since July 1, shoppers who spent $20 or more at over 75 participating stores across The Levee precinct had the opportunity to enter the draw for the car.
Ms Swanbrough drove away in a brand new Suzuki Vitara Turbo valued at $31,990.
"The Levee Car Giveaway has been the biggest single competition to date at The Levee, and it's awesome to see it has achieved our goal of encouraging people to shop local," Maitland Mayor Loretta Baker added.
"Council identified a range of activities, initiatives and promotions across the city to assist businesses and the community through the pandemic, and it's great to see this successful promotion coming to fruition.
"I'm also so excited for Lynne, winning a brand new car just in time for Christmas." The Levee Car Giveaway was a COVID-19 Response and Recovery initiative of Maitland Council.
And the winning ticket? Well, Ms Swanbrough is a big fan of Riverlink restaurant COQUUN.
"I shop at The Levee all the time because I love to shop local and support small business," she said.
