Registrations are now open and will close when the allocation of seedling packs are exhausted.
"The giveaway is about increasing greening on properties around Maitland, using native species that are well suited to the local environment and providing food and shelter for native bird and animal species," Council's Environment and Sustainability manager Catherine Pepper said.
"The move to click and collect is designed to make the Giveaway accessible for more people, less waiting in queues and a faster process on the day for the community, and increased COVID Safety."
The process is easy. Choose a timeslot online that suits best, and turn up on the selected day to collect the seedling pack from Maitland Netball Clubhouse in Maitland Park.
One hour timeslots are available from 8am to 9am each morning from Monday. March 22 through to Wednesday, March 24.
There will also be two timeslots on Saturday, March 27 between 8am and 10.30am.
One pack of seedlings will be available per household and must be collected in the registered timeslot.
The pack will contain a standard mix of six seedlings from an assortment of 28 native species, including Grevillea, Bottle Brush, Kangaroo Paw, Lomandra, Lilly Pilly and Hardenbergia.
As always, a driver's licence or rates notice will be required as proof of residence when collecting seedlings.
Tenants should also check with their landlord whether they are permitted to plant seedlings in their yard.
