Aqua Hire
Come on down to Lorn Beach between 9am and 2pm, and hire a kayak or stand up paddleboard to explore the still waters of the Hunter River.
Hire out the watercrafts for an hour while spectators will be able to sit on the sand of the riverbank in a comfy beach chair. Starts Thursday, January 6, all tickets are $10.

Dive In Cinema
This popular event at East Maitland Aquatic Centre returns with three Disney favourites, starting Friday, January 14 with Raya and the Last Dragon.
Also screening are The Little Mermaid and Jungle Cruise. Sessions run from 6pm to 10pm (movies start at 8pm) and tickets for a spot in the pool at priced at $10.

Disc Golf
Stockade Hill Heritage Park in East Maitland will be transformed into a six hole golf course from January 10 until February 28. Disc golf is similar to traditional golf, but instead of using clubs and a ball, you use a frisbee!
Grab one for $5 at Maitland Visitor Information Centre or BYO frisbee.
Maitland Gaol
Delve into the historic past of Maitland Gaol with these activities aimed at young people. For more information, visit maitlandgaol.com.au.
Junior Sleuths: Become a Junior Sleuth on a mini tour where you learn how to dust for and process fingerprints - including your own. Starts Thursday 6 January at 11am, suitable for ages five and over. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Child and adult packages start from $15.
Workhouse Woes - Convict Construction: Enjoy a mini tour of the Gaol with an expert guide before building your very own 3D paper model. Can you build the Gaol from the ground up? Starts Tuesday, January 4 at 11am, suitable for ages seven and over. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Child and adult packages start from $15.
The Levee Central Maitland Giant Games: Pair your retail therapy trip into Central Maitland with a stop at The Levee's Shared Zone, which will be loaded with giant games (such as chess, snakes and ladders, Connect Four) to play with. Maitland Libraries
Keep the kids entertained this summer with a range of fun holiday activities both in branch and online at Maitland Libraries.
You can make your own music with musical scores from Hamilton and Disney, literary mocktail recipes for both entertaining and winding down, or power through a wet La Nina summer with movie sessions through Kanopy or Beamafilm...with a library card, of course!
