Derk Rinses, store manager at Maitland Woolworths, said their team is pleased to be offering an improved shopping experience.
"Locals will visibly notice the transformation, with increased convenience playing a major role in helping support our customers," he said.
In the news:
"With a wider range of fruit and veg and other groceries to choose from across the store, we're excited to offer more choice for how customers shop with us.
"The bakery department has had an extensive upgrade and we're proud to now offer stonebaked bread, baked fresh in store daily."
Mr Rinses said he has been manager at Maitland Woolworths twice and is proud to see team members still there from 20 years ago, and hopes they will share their wisdom and experience to the new team members.
"Having hired over 30 new faces to join our team in the last couple of months, I know they are excited to share our refreshed store with customers this week," he said.
Federal member for Paterson, Meryl Swanson, said she was excited to visit the new-look store.
"I am particularly pleased that Woolworths has expanded the team to include over 30 new team members, many of whom are local high school students," Ms Swanson said.
"These jobs are really valuable for our young people and for our community."
Woolworths is making a commitment to reducing their impact on the environment, with the store being fitted out with LED lights to reduce power usage, and carbon-efficient freezer and air-conditioning systems.
Local farmers in Maitland can pick up surplus produce and baked goods for animals, and Woolworths Maitland also offers food to Nillo Infant School for their students' breakfast club.
The store will have a quiet hour on Tuesdays at 10.30am, which is designed to support customers who have sensory disorders.
During the quiet hour the store lighting is dimmed to half lights across key areas and the music is turned off.
The opening hours for Woolworths Maitland are 7am to 10pm Monday to Friday and 7am to 9pm on weekends.
