Schools across the Hunter were represented by over a hundred competitors.
John Mudd, a legendary figure at the Aquatic Centre, and the man to whom lane 2 is dedicated, said the event went swimmingly despite some early organisational hiccups.
“I’ve been swimming here for 74 years and this year is as good as they come. The day to mark on your calendar is Thursday the 6th - that’s our big day - the finals,” Mr Mudd said.
“The kids are great and it’s good to see so many parents coming down to cheer them all on. If nothing else it’s a great excuse to come down the pool,” he said.
