Central Hunter police charged a 17-year-old on Tuesday over 23 break-ins and thefts that have allegedly been committed during the past four years.
Police say the incidents occurred at several premises in High Street Maitland, as well as at Rutherford, Beresfield, Woodberry and Metford between March 5, 2011, and May 10 this year.
Officers arrested the youth last Wednesday after a search of a New England Highway home at Rutherford.
At the time, he was charged two counts of break and enter, stealing and receiving stolen property.
He was released on conditional bail.
But after further investigations, police arrested the teenager again on Tuesday and charged him over several other alleged offences.
These include two counts of theft, 13 break, enter and steal charges, three break and enter with intent to steal charges, two counts of break, enter and destroy property and one charge of taking a vehicle without consent of the owner.
He has been refused bail and will face children's court today.
