The group raised just under $1000 over the weekend by holding a raffle and sausage sizzle at Bunnings, after receiving bread donated by Bakers Delight.
The group’s Rachel Parsons said the money would go directly towards paying for speech therapists to come to group meetings.
Aphasia impairs language and communication skills and can be caused by a stroke or brain tumour.
About 25-30 people in Maitland are part of the group.
The group will next raise funds at a trivia night to be held Maitland Leagues Club on October 14.
