The two veterans caused a social media sensation by defying their age and cutting some mean shapes on the salon floor.
But that hairdresser, who was 73, wasn’t even born when Daphne, 93, married the love of her life John.
John and Daphne, of Telarah, will notch up 75 years of marriage on Tuesday – an anniversary very few people get to celebrate.
Funnily enough, dancing was what brought the pair together.
They met at a dance at Maitland Town Hall and they’ve been jiving along ever since.
“He’s my best friend,” Daphne said, “he’s marvelous he is.”
“She’s always so lovely,” John added.
Even after all these years, the pair are just as smitten with each other as they were when they were wed at St Mary’s Church on March 31, 1942.
“We tell each other we love each other every day,” John said. “We share in everything.”
And the couple certainly hasn’t lost their sense of humour along the way.
We tell each other we love each other every day. We share in everything.

“I once told his mother if she had twins I’d have married the both of them,” Daphne joked with her beaming smile and a giggle.
“She said ‘no you wouldn’t have’ and I said ‘yeah one of them could have done the washing and one could have done the ironing!”
Along with all the laughs, the pair share deep pride in their two children, Robert and Vicki.
“If any other couple had them, they’d be very proud,” John said.
Since then they’ve also welcomed four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
With all those joyous occasions throughout their marriage, the pair said it didn’t feel like 75 years had gone by.
“Maybe if one of us was ill, but we’re both in good health so you don’t really think of it,” Daphne said.
When asked how it felt to notch up the rare achievement of 75 years of marriage, Daphne showed off that humorous side yet again.
“I’ll let you know know when we celebrate the next 75,” she said.
Daphne and John celebrated their wedding anniversary surrounded by their family, with a lunch at the Bradford Hotel, Rutherford on Sunday.
