Councillors voted unanimously at Tuesday’s meeting of council in favour of supporting a push to host the event.
The issue was brought up in the urgent business section of the meeting by Cr Ben Whiting, who said he’d been approached by several members of the public looking for support on the application.
When asked why the issue was a matter of urgent business, Cr Whiting explained that expressions of interest must be lodged by March 21.
“It’s great to see support from all for a possible live music event in Maitland,” Cr Whiting said following the meeting.
One Night Stand is an annual free concert, aimed at bringing some of the biggest names in Australian music to rural and regional parts of the country.
Singleton Council have already thrown their weight behind an application.
