The move comes courtesy of Cr Robert Aitchison whose Notice of Motion to a recent council meeting was supported.
Fairfax Media recently reported how Cr Aitchison wanted to see all skip bins on construction sites covered.
The issue of waste blowing from work sites into waterways and neighbouring properties is very high.

“With so much construction underway across the Maitland Local Government Area (LGA), I am concerned about the amount of rubbish being pushed off building sites during wild weather,” he said.
“The windy months of August and September are almost upon us, now is the time to act.”
Council will also enlist the support of Hunter Councils’ Environment Division and request that the relevant State Government agency review the current State Environmental Planning Policy and where possible incorporate this practice across NSW.
“With a strong growth in greenfield sites, the issue of waste blowing from work sites into waterways and neighbouring properties is very high,” Cr Aitchison said.
