An Ausgrid spokesperson said crews were patrolling to identify the cause and working to safely restore power to the three suburbs with an estimated restore time of 3pm.
The outage first occurred about 11.45am.
Another 70 homes in Weston were also without electricity after reports that a large tree had fallen on power lines.
The spokesperson said crews were hoping to rectify that problem by 2.30pm.
The wild winds have not only caused power outages, but also kept Maitland SES busy.
The team has received 30 requests for assistance across Maitland and Cessnock since midday on Thursday.
“Crews are continuing to respond to these calls this afternoon and were assisted by Singleton SES on Thursday,” SES spokesperson Alexandra Varley said.
It comes as firefighters continue to battle a blaze at Salt Ash, which has threatened homes.
