Well, brave souls will have the opportunity with Maitland Gaol hosting a sleepover on Friday.
Solstice Slumber is part of Maitland Council's winter celebration of the longest night of the year.
Acting coordinator Zoe Whiting said the event is the only sleepover for the adults during 2019.
"This is the one and only chance to sleep at the gaol," she said.
"People will be able to choose their own cells - which is always fun. We only have a limited number of tickets available and they will be on sale until the night before.
"There will only be 60 places and we have already sold about half the tickets."
People will enjoy a torchlight tour to hear about the crafty ways prisoners effected or attempted to escape from Australia's longest continually operating prison.
They will then return to the visitors centre where attendees will battle other teams to be crowned the Solstice Slumber trivia champions.
"It will be a lot of fun," Ms Whiting said.
The trivia will be a broad range of all things spooky and Gaol related so bring along your thinking caps.
But don't worry, people won't go hungry with the gaol also catering supper for its guest.
"They've done a mix of trivia and we have prizes to give away on the night. There will be a light supper to warm people up and then it's lock down for the night," Ms Whiting said.
The winter sleepover will be held on Friday, June 21 from 8.30pm.
Tickets are available online via the Maitland Gaol website by clicking 'Book Now'.
As part of Maitland City Council's festivities for the shortest day of year, The Levee will be transformed.
The shared zone will be filled food stalls and fire performers for After Dark - Winter Solstice.
The event, which runs from 5pm, will finish with fireworks display at 8.30pm.
Council is anticipating between 4000 and 5000 people will attend the celebration.
