The annual exhibition will showcase hundreds of works from artists scattered across the region.
President Kay Sparkes said there would be a variety of different works available for purchase including a record number of sculptures this year.
"It's our 21st exhibition, and the biggest that we have ever held. There are some astounding pieces of art this year," she said.
"We are the only artist society in the Lower Hunter."
More than 230 works in a range of styles and mediums will be on display - from paintings to sculptures.
Secretary Joanne Conder said the society was excited to show local talent.
"We have a contemporary section where people will see abstract or unusual interpretations of a landscape or still-life," she said.
"We have a woman working in bronze and silver, and she is exhibiting for the first time." Art enthusiasts can also take a piece home, with works on sale at varying prices up to about $3000.
People are invited to the opening night celebrations on Friday, which will run between 6pm and 8pm.
Entry is $10, and includes drinks and finger food. The exhibition, at St James Anglican Church Hall, will remain open from 10am to 4pm on Saturday, and between 10am to 3pm on Sunday.
