In March Maitland Mutual Building Society Limited started trading as The Mutual Bank.
Chairman of the board Trevor Robinson said the changes to the organisation's trading name and legal name were an important step in laying the foundations for the organisation's future growth and development.
"The removal of the term 'Building Society' from our name signifies our development as a business in alignment with our community and members' needs. The Mutual Bank has, and continues to evolve and our new trading and legal names better articulate what it is we do for our members and the role we play in the financial landscape of the Hunter Region," Mr Robinson said.
"Our organisational structure and operations will not change as a result, we are and will continue to be a member-owned financial institution."
The change in The Mutual Bank's legal name was unanimously recommended by the Board of Directors and put to a member vote at the AGM on September 26 and a resounding majority were in favour of the adoption of the new name.
The use of 'Maitland Mutual Limited' as the new legal name for The Mutual Bank will commence upon registration with ASIC.
