This family friendly event, presented by PRD Hunter Valley, has something for everyone, with free amusement rides, face painting, and a disco playing the top tunes from 2021.
From 5pm, Newcastle based swing band Fish Fry and Pow Wow will be bringing their funky rhythm and blues setlist to the riverbank stage.
In other news:
Tantalise your tastebuds by sampling some food from the food trucks and dessert stalls along the riverbank.
The event is set to be bigger than ever, with the celebrations stretching outward to include the length of the riverside and Riverside Walk, Lorn's RH Taylor Reserve and the Riverside and Cathedral Street car parks.
The evening will culminate with a spectacular fireworks display from 9pm.
Maitland City Council events coordinator Adam Franks said council is excited to bring the community together and start the new year on a high note.
"This event is seen as a staple of Maitland's event calendar, and our 2021 New Year's Eve extravaganza is expected to welcome thousands of people to the heart of Maitland," he said.
"It has been a few years since this event has been held, so we know the community will be really excited to have the opportunity to come together again and enjoy the fireworks."
In addition to the free attractions and amusements, partygoers can also book tickets to the new outdoor VIP area on the lawn of St John the Baptist Catholic Chapel.
The exclusive VIP area is the perfect place to view the fireworks display and will feature a live DJ, an intimate seated setting and drinks and platters courtesy of The Pourhouse from 6pm.
VIP tickets are $80. Grab your tickets here: https://mait.city/NewYearsEve.
PRD Hunter Valley Principal Rhonda Nyquist said the firm is "proud to once again lend its support to the event, having served as a major sponsor for the past six years". A COVID safety plan is in place for New Year's Eve following the advice of NSW Health.
