The new gallery, which is tucked away in the historical streets of Central Maitland, will present works on paper by notable painters Deborah Van Heekeren, Helen Hopcroft and Kimberly Swan.
The gallery owner and artist, Deborah Van Heekeren, said that this is a unique opportunity to collect affordable works on paper by local emerging and established artists.
"I've selected three Maitland-based artists who are creating exciting figurative work," she said.
"We have kept the prices reasonably low, so people who want to purchase original art can do so.
"We're also collaborating with a local framing business, so you can buy something beautiful and organise framing at the same time."
As well as being an accomplished painter and gallerist, Ms Van Heekeren is an acclaimed writer who was awarded the 2021 Joanne Burns microlit by Newcastle Writers Festival and literary journal, Spineless Wonders.
In the news:
Emerging painter Kimberly Swan was a finalist in the 2022 Hunter Emerging Artist Prize.
Helen Hopcroft trained as a painter at London's Royal College of Art, recently ranked as the world's top art and design college.
Debra Atkinson, owner of Picture This, a custom framing business, will also be on hand to offer expert advice on framing options.
All art purchased during the Paperworks exhibition will receive a generous framing discount from Picture This.
"I wanted to do something to support other local businesses and Picture This always does such a great job framing my artworks," Ms Van Heekeren added.
The Paperworks opening event will take place from 5.30pm to 7.30pm on Saturday, April 9 and run until May 8.
The gallery is located at 6 Bridge Street and its hours are 10am to 3pm on Saturdays as well as noon to 3pm on Sundays or by appointment.
