He wants to see the city’s major road projects delivered, repairs carried out on Maitland area roads and he wants to be sitting in the new No 1 Sportsground facility.
Mr Thomsons is hopeful he will be Robyn Parker’s replacement come March 28, so he has committed himself to the projects already promised.
He spoke about his wish list with NSW fair trading minister Matthew Mason-Cox in Maitland as a show of support yesterday.
“I am committed to helping small business because behind every one of them is a family to support,” Mr Thomson said.
“I will continue to urge people to spend their dollars locally, at retailers and coffee shops, because the benefits flow onto four or five other families in Maitland.
“Small businesses have to stay open. I want to make it easier for them to employ people and in their day to day operations.”
Maitland people have not been spending a lot of money for the past three years because of uncertain economic times, Mr Thomson said.
“Now we are seeing a resurgence in the housing sector, which all flows onto small business.
“It is still tough times but the economy is improving.”
Mr Thomson’s election agenda includes promoting The Levee to become a destination in Maitland with a vibrant night life, restaurant and cafe culture, speciality stores run by mum and dad small business owners and a proud connection to the Hunter River.
