Carrie’s Place are calling for donations of non-perishable food items to give to victims of domestic violence who have been left homeless.
A huge demand over Christmas left stocks low and the refuge needs help to replenish them.
“We’ve been inundated with clients needing food,” operations manager Jenny Harland said.
“After accommodation, food is the very next thing on the list. These are things we take for granted every day.”
Ms Harland said as the refuge was always full, many clients were placed into temporary accommodation and only had access to basic things like a kettle and bowl.
The organisation is asking for items such as cereal, long life milk, noodles, pasta and pasta sauces, rice, baked beans, tinned spaghetti, tinned soup and tinned chunky meals.
Ms Harland said they had received a huge response to the drive so far and were appreciative of all the donations.
