And, she would know.
Late last year she was crowned Maitland City Council’s Volunteer of the Year, and is celebrating almost a decade in the fun and exciting role.
With another packed calendar of upcoming events in 2018, council is searching for enthusiastic volunteers like Ms Sciberras to help make their range of activities possible.
Eight years ago, the local woman decided to get involved as a council volunteer because she loved being around people.
Now, she is recommending others join in the fun.
“It’s a nice place to be working for,” she said.
“It keeps me younger.
“Every event is different and has its own character and it’s just great – I really enjoy it.
“I’ve met many, many people; I’ve enjoyed it from the start.
“At different events you meet different people and every one of them have different talents they bring to us.
“You get a lot out of it and, [with] what you’re giving, you get more back.”
Maitland City Council coordinator events Adam Franks said people could volunteer as much, or as little, as they liked.
“It’s a great way to help people and give back to the community, and get involved with the events we host,” he said.
“We’ve got a range of different events to suit different tastes.
“We tailor the roles to the volunteers and what they’re looking to get out it as much as we can.
“We accept applications all year round.”
