Maitland Regional Museum has lodged an expression of interest with the NSW Government for the Lands Department building on the corner of Banks Street and the New England Highway at East Maitland.
The museum is also working towards obtaining a state government grant.
”Obviously a lot of money is going to Western Sydney at the moment, but we’ve had massive population growth and our cultural infrastructure hasn’t kept up,” Ms Hopcroft, acting museum president said. “Having a museum is essential for families looking for something enriching to do on the weekend.”
