The three-day event which kicked off Thursday at Cessnock Airport has been deemed a success after it was moved from Narromine this year.
Event director David Young said while fly-in numbers were down due to inclement weather mid-week, the venue was “fantastic” and estimated there were a few thousand people in attendance.
“Airventure has a very strong following,” he said. “It went really well.”
He said some of the highlights were the Hawk 127 which came in from Williamtown and Matt Hall’s aerobatics display.
Mr Young said plans were for the show to return to Cessnock again.
“We’ll let the dust settle over the next couple of weeks, have a debrief and talk to council.
“But there’s no reason why we wouldn’t [come back].”
