The fundraiser raises money for the gallery’s programs to support members of the community living with memory loss, lived mental health experiences, families with sensory processing needs, and others with accessibility requirements.
Gallery director Brigette Uren said the fundraiser was ready to paint the town red with a jam packed itinerary.
“Tickets sales are stronger than last year. We are almost sold out,” she said.
“The event is not costing anything for us to stage so every penny raised on the night will go directly to the programs.”
A six year partnership with the Rotary Club of Maitland Sunrise has seen more than $60,000 raised through annual events to support specialised programs, which continue to make a significant impact throughout the Maitland community.
Visitors will join ABC Newcastle’s Paul Bevan in conversation with special guest Helen Richey and learn about her story of ‘Ballroom through to Bollywood’.
It will also feature unique dance performances with Bill’s Ballroom, Nartana School of Dance and the Macedonian Stiv Naumov dance group.
“We’ve had great support for the auction. One of them is Wendy Sharpe who actually painted two Bollywood dancers preparing for a performance and donated it to the gallery,” Ms Uren said.
“Those kind of measures spell out how loved the gallery’s arts and health programs are.”
Tickets include a gourmet carvery and cheese bar, wine courtesy of Tyrrell’s Wines, craft beer from The Pourhouse, a lucky door prize and a fundraising auction.
Ms Uren said it is hoped this event will raise another $20,000 for projects throughout next year.
“I have witnessed first hand the power of art and community to transform individuals living with memory loss and mental health issues,” she said.
“So please, come along and help us continue to support members of our community who directly benefit from Arts in Health initiatives.”
