Maitland will be chasing the under-12, under-14 and under-16 Hunter Valley Junior Cricket Association competition titles and also takes part in the opening round of the prestigious IDCA competition.
At IDCA level Maitland will be in action at under-12, under-13, under-14, under-15 and under-16 level and the opening round clash has opened up opportunities for several new players to get a taste of representative cricket.
“In a first for Maitland cricket we will be fielding eight separate representative teams this Sunday,” Maitland District Junior Cricket Association spokesman David Farmer said.
“Thanks to all of the players who put their hands up to play a game of rep cricket on the weekend to assist with the clash of games in the Hunter Valley and Sydney IDCA competitions.”
Maitland will go into Sunday’s Hunter Valley finals as favourites will all three sides clean sweeping their opponents in the qualifying rounds.
The under-16s face a combined Cessnock and Upper Hunter team at Robins Oval on Sunday from 10am.
Wicket keeper Luke Farthing who made a 110 not out in the opening game of the Hunter Valley series against Upper Hunter will captain the team which also includes Eddie Sutherland, Denzel O'Brien, Ryan Wind, Reilly Bashford, Jordan Wells, Cameron Pannowitz, James Killen, Ashton Lucas, Charlie Grainger, Jayden Newson and B. Lucas.
Maitland’s under-14s face Upper Hunter at Lorn Park in the Hunter Valley grand final. Captained by wicket keeper Tom Porter the team also includes Ethan Cook, Lucas Hickling, Liam Richardson, Ethan Bartlett, Tom Lovegrove, Noah Fisher, James Green, Joseph Hancock, Tom Thorpe and Patrick Stewart.
The under-12s host Cessnock in the Hunter Valley grand final at Coronation Oval. The team includes K Dwyer, C Stambolie, S Strachan, Q MacClure, H Connell, C Barker, A Clack, J Sullivan, T Flood, P McCloskey, B Hindle
The IDCA under-16 team which travels to Penrith includes first grade experienced City United duo Ben Crebert and Cam Wynn along with Dusty Callaghan, Hunter Ball, Drew Mulligan, Eian Harris, Samual Peacock, Hudson Smith, Lachlan Scott. Alex Lidbury, Tallon Gear and Thomas Page.
In late scheduled games Maitland IDCA under-15 and under-12s meet Wenty Leagues. Teams have not been announced at this stage.
