“This grant will increase the capacity and efficiency of the air conditioning system at the Maitland Regional Art Gallery,” Parliamentary Secretary for the Hunter, Scot MacDonald said.
“This involves the installation of a new cooling tower and water chiller to supplement the existing air conditioning plant.”
The $100,000 grant comes from the NSW Liberal National Government’s Heritage Near Me Green Energy program, and is one of 24 projects across the state.
“It offers so much to our community through cultural experiences and participation, and I am so proud that we have a wonderful facility like this in our city,” mayor Loretta Baker said.
“The grant will help to upgrade the current air conditioning system at the gallery, meaning it will then be in a position to attract loans of high quality cultural material and exhibitions from state and national institutions that would not be possible without these improvements.
“I’m thrilled with this announcement and I can’t wait to see what exhibitions MRAG may attract once the upgrades are complete.”
