A crime scene was established and police blocked traffic in both directions on Raymond Terrace Road, at Hunter Street, up to the Lindesay Street and High Street roundabout.
Three NSW ambulance crews attended the scene.
A NSW Ambulance spokesperson said the teen suffered a head injury and was taken to John Hunter Hospital by a specialist medical team.
