Slow Food Hunter Valley is ready to send another load of fruit and vegetable boxes to drought-ravaged Upper Hunter farmers.
But there's a slight problem. The ongoing drought across the Maitland area means there will only be enough food to fill 30 boxes on Thursday - 10 less than usual.
The not-for-profit group has urged backyard growers with spare produce to lend a helping hand, if they can.
Any excess produce can be dropped off at the Slow Food Earth Market in The Levee on Thursday at 12.30pm.
"Every bit of produce helps to fill the box," earth market chairwoman Amorelle Dempster said.
The boxes will be taken to the Country Women's Association at Gundy on Friday, which will distribute them to the farming families who are most in need.
