Helen Stuckings of Maitland's Inspirations Hair Design, has started the campaign and is appealing to her peers to join her in the charity event on Tuesday, December 3.
"I help feed the homeless on a Monday night at the Uniting Church Hall in Maitland," Helen said.
"I wanted to do something to give back to the community and help the less fortunate at Christmas time.
"This is a way of putting my skills to work for a charitable cause and helping bring a little Christmas cheer to those who need it the most," she said.
The event will be a first for Maitland.
Barbers or hairdressers who can help out on the day can contact Helen at her High Street salon on 49331812.
"I'm still recruiting but I already have four barbers and three to four hairdressers on board," she said.
"I've had lots of hairdressers in the area in helping me and I am sure the less fortuntate will be very appreciative of new hair dos for the festive season."
The event will be held at the Uniting Church Hall on Ken Tubman Drive between 9.30am and 3pm.
"We are trying to organise some special giveaway products also for a little Christmas gift," Helen said.
