It's official. Ruby Holdsworth is a star when it comes to baking cupcakes.
The aspiring cupcake baker debuted in the cooking section at the Maitland Show and has been recognised for her efforts.
She won first place for her plate of three cupcakes, which were chocolate mud flavoured and beautifully decorated.
And, she received a highly commended for her gingerbread figure decorated with white royal icing and black facial features.
"I put a flower on one cupcake and hearts on one, and one had a big dot in the middle," she said.
"I was surprised I won, I thought I wasn't going to do very well."
The judge's feedback has encouraged the nine-year-old to keep practicing and she hopes to enter the show again next year.
Ruby decided to enter the show after her mum suggested it. She made sure she did a lot of practice in the week leading up to the show to refine her technique.
