The proposal, which has an $1.9 million dollar price tag, would see the construction of an addition building next to the existing centre. St Nicholas Early Education.
"It is proposed to expand an existing 77 place child care centre (the Centre) by constructing an adjacent freestanding building containing 65 additional child care places," a statement of environment effects read.
"The existing building would be reconfigured to reduce the capacity to 69 places. Following the expansion, the total number of places would be 134 places.
"The poposal is located in the residential urban release area of Chisholm. As such, much of the development that will surround the Centre has not yet been constructed. Like the adjacent schools, the Centre will cater for the growing demand for children's services in the area that is resulting from new residential development."
The extended centre will operate from 6.30am to 6.30pm weekdays.
The application is currently under assessment with Maitland City Council.
