Located in the booming and family-focused Wallis Creek Estate, the centre was built with the needs of local families front-of-mind.
The centre includes two 12-place nursery programs for children aged 0 - 2 years, two 15-place toddler programs for children aged 2 - 3 years, two 20-place toddler programs for children aged 3 - 4 years, and two 25-place preschool programs for children aged 4 - 5 years, with high educator-to-child ratios to ensure premium, individualised education and care for each child.
In line with St Nicholas' commitment to supporting working parents, the service offers long day care hours (6.30am to 6pm).
An additional 'bush kinder' environment--a first for St Nicholas--allows for free play in a natural setting to promote exploration and discovery.
The bush kinder environment features a climbing hill, natural bamboo archway, duck enclosure and mud pit feeding from water pumped through various dry river beds. Members of the community will be encouraged to add to the bush kinder area over time.
Inside the centre, Gillieston Heights' large, open-plan classrooms offer unique opportunities for play-based learning at every turn.
'Sensory nooks' scattered throughout the centre provide a quiet space for children to be alone if they feel the need, especially beneficial for children with additional needs.
A shared space for meal times affords children the opportunity to participate in a communal dining experience with their younger and older peers as they eat.
