Maitland coach Keelan Hamilton had always planned to give his squad an easier week this week as they continued to push claims for a top-four finish in their first season of Newcastle Herald Women's Premier League.

As it turns out, everyone is taking an enforced break with the Hunter region plunged into a seven-day lockdown until Thursday 11.59pm. That period could be extended given the increasing number of coronavirus cases in the area.
The Magpies slipped out of the top four and into fifth place after a 3-1 loss to Adamstown in round 17. It left the Herald WPL newcomers on 24 points and four adrift of Adamstown and Warners Bay, who are level-pegged for third place with 28.
The three sides are stuck in a battle for third and fourth place. Broadmeadow (43) and Newcastle Olympic (42) already have top-two finishes secured.
Maitland were to play Warners Bay last weekend before the round was postponed. They are scheduled to play Olympic at Cooks Square Park on Saturday.
"We were planning to have Monday off at a minimum anyway after we played Warners Bay," Hamilton said.
"We've trained pretty relentlessly and pretty consistently since we came back from Christmas break, so the girls have earned a bit of a break. Leading into Olympic, we were tossing up whether to give them Wednesday off as well and just have a freshen up heading into the last four games of the season.
"So at this stage, we haven't planned any programs for them. We're just letting them have space and we'll see what the situation looks like towards the end of this week."
"Obviously, if it goes into a second week we'll have to just start thinking about maintaining our conditioning and how we're going to do that."
