West Maitland has numerical bragging rights over East Maitland claiming four junior rugby league premierships to three following the decision by the NSW Rugby Leagues decision to abandon community competitions in the Hunter.

Under the NSWRL decision in consultation with Newcastle JRL, Maitland and District JRL and the Newcastle and Hunter RL the competitions were officially abandoned on Friday.
While there will be no more play, premiers and runners-up awards will be presented to the top two teams in each competition.
West Maitland won the Under 12 Smith, U/13 Division 4, U/13 women's tag and U/16 Division 3 premierships. The Wallaroos were also runners-up in U/10 Smith, U/11 Smith and U/16 Division 2.
East Maitland won the U/10 Pilgrim, U/12s Pilgrim and U/14 Division 2 titles. The Griffins were runners-up in U/11 Arnott, U/13 Division 4
Kurri Kurri Bulldogs and Greta-Branxton Colts both collected two titles.
Greta Branxton won the U/10 Arnott and U/11 Arnott premierships. The young Colts were also runners up in the U/14 Division 3 competition behind Kotara.
Kurri Kurri Minor Rugby Leagues under-16 and under 11 teams also won premierships with the Bulldogs finishing on top the of Division-1 U/16 ladder ahead of Lakes United and Kurri Red taking out the U/-11 Pilgrim title.
Dungog won the U/10 Smith premiership and were runners-up in U/12 Smith and U/14 Division 2.
Thornton Beresfield Gold won the U/11 Smith title.
Cessnock were runners-up in the U/10 Pilgrim, U/11 Pilgrim, U/12 Arnott, U/15 Division 1, and U/17 Division 1 competitions.
