Maitland tradeswoman Abbey Bridge is using her expertise to mentor and inspire local female painting apprentices.

Ms Bridge is a Supervisor at Valley Painting and Maintenance, who have recently taken on two new female apprentices.
She now looks forward to acting as a mentor for young female painting apprentices working their way up.
"I would like to use my position, skills and qualification to support the future of the painting industry and in particular, females establishing their career paths in construction and maintenance," she said.
According to Ms Bridge, "painting is a great career-path, especially now the industry is booming".
Ms Bridge completed her Certificate III in Painting and Decorating in 2020, and took home a TAFE NSW Excellence Award for Apprentice of the Year.
