Construction has started at the site on the corner of Aberglasslyn Road and McKeachie Drive.
A new 2300 square metre Woolworths supermarket will employ more than 100 people and will be alongside specialty stores and a 127-space car park.
A family medical centre including four doctors and a pharmacy have confirmed as tenants.
Additional tenants, including a café, are expected to be announced shortly. A child care centre is already operating next to the shopping centre site.
“Construction of the new store has started and we look forward to offering customers choice, value and convenience,” Woolworths property manager Ravi Singh said.
“The new store will create more than 100 jobs including full-time, part-time and casual roles.”
Stockland regional manager Stephen Barlow said a second Woolworths supermarket in the Rutherford area would be welcomed.
“This announcement is great news for McKeachie’s Run. I’m happy that Woolworths has selected this community for a new supermarket,” Mr Barlow said.
“The new shopping centre will add to the lifestyle at McKeachie’s Run.
“Stockland is committed to providing convenient, modern amenities in all its communities.
“Residents can look forward to the new retail and healthcare facilities, which means their homes will be close to shops for their day-to-day needs.”
Mr Barlow said confirmation of the McKeachie’s Run Shopping Centre and Woolworths supermarket was an exciting development for Aberglasslyn.
“The past few months have seen a great deal of activity at McKeachie’s Run and there is lots more for the community to look forward to this year,” he said.
Work is complete on the McKeachie’s Run sports facility with football fields, an all-weather cricket pitch, flood lights, playground, shelters, barbecues and parking for 80 cars.
“Stockland has launched a new precinct of home sites at McKeachie’s Run called The Verge, which is a short walk from these new sporting fields,” Mr Barlow said.
The development also has a network of walking and cycling paths connecting parks to McKeachie’s Lake Reserve.
