Maitland City Council’s place activation officer Amber Herrmann said Friday’s After Dark – which featured street performers, food trucks and extended trading hours – had been a success.
“[The Levee] is a magical space with all the new investment in wooden seating matched up against the lit-up old buildings,” she said.
The positive reception, Ms Herrmann said, revealed an appetite in the region for further night-time activation though Council was still assessing what shape that would take.
“People’s lifestyles have changed. We need to make sure the city is a great place 24 hours a day,” Ms Herrmann said.
Ms Herrmann said the Council was working toward releasing its long-term plans in a Place Activation Strategy around the end of the year.
