A Maitland High spokesperson said the pupil-free day would replace one that had previously been scheduled for April 26, which impacted students at other schools across Maitland.
Maitland High School will host teachers from schools across the region to listen to a key note address from Professor Stephen Dinham, who is a world leader in education.
Maitland High School relieving principal Paula Graham said the conference was part of the school’s continuing transformation.
“MHS has a deeply committed and collegial staff who genuinely care about students and who work closely together to deliver the best quality education to young people in the Maitland area,” she said.
“Many teachers worked at the school through the holidays and will be eager to develop the insights provided by Professor Dinham in the classroom when students return to school on Tuesday.”
