Wyandottes, a popular breed of chicken, are commonly seen on the show circuit and pecking around the backyard. Hunter Valley Wyandotte Club assistant secretary Tony Mills said the weekend’s event was “absolutely wonderful” and heavily praised by judges and exhibitors.
“People said it was the best show they’ve ever been to,” he said.
“The atmosphere was really enjoyable and, with the record number of entries, it seemed like everyone wanted to come.
Mr Mills said exhibitors came from far-and-wide with one man bringing about 90 fowls from the Queensland border. But best in show went to the Southern Highland’s Jason Demetrious and his white Wyandotte.
Mr Mills said exhibitors were already lining up for next year’s event.
