Lendlease has been appointed managing contractor for the 400-bed rapid-build prison and is seeking expressions of interest from qualified subcontractors to tender for work packages.
Corrective Services NSW Commissioner Peter Severin said Hunter subcontractors should take advantage of the more than 400 construction jobs being created as part of the prison expansion.
“The managing contractor is seeking a range of qualified trades, including metalworkers, painters and landscapers, so local subcontractors should not miss out on this opportunity and are encouraged to apply,” Mr Severin said.
“We are also continuing to consult with the community on the planning of the centre’s expansion and will be accepting feedback until Monday 22 August. Subject to this consultation and approval, construction works are expected to commence later this year.”
