Phillip Lawrence Slater, 36, briefly appeared in Maitland Local Court on Monday.
He was charged with 10 counts in June, including five counts of supplying prohibited drugs including steroids and pseudoephedrine.
Mr Slater is part-owner of five pharmacies across the Hunter.
The court heard on Monday that prosecutors had delivered a partial brief of evidence to Mr Slater’s defence, which his lawyer described as “quite luminous".
Magistrate John Chicken referred the matter to Newcastle Local Court on September 19.
