The 2016 survey, carried out earlier this year, showed that Maitland City Council has achieved above benchmark results with 89 per cent of residents being at least “somewhat satisfied” with the overall performance of council.
In a report to Tuesday night’s council meeting council officers said the research found an increase in residents’ level of importance for nine of the 41 council service areas explored in the survey, when compared to 2014 results.
The report said the areas of increasing importance fell across a range of categories largely influenced by the local government area’s continued growth, including roads and transport, employment and economic development, connecting the community with council, long term planning and flood protection and preparedness.
“As expected in a fast growing and changing area, there are opportunities for council to build from strengths and improve overall community satisfaction,” a report said.
