Mai-Wel employees have been recognised for their service to the organisation

Fast forward 40 years and the bright and bubbly woman is still enjoying every minute of her career with the disability organisation.

Now she sorts papers for shredding at the company’s other business, The Enterprise Centre, and says the role sometimes connects her with magazine articles about superstars, which she loves to collect.

Ms Bailey was among several Mai-Wel employees that celebrated their employment milestone of 10, 15, 20, 25 and 40 years with the company at an award ceremony on Thursday.

They received a trophy for their efforts that was presented by Mayor of Maitland, Cr Peter Blackmore.

Sheree Ellis and Suzanne Cribb became work mates when they started at TimeSavers 15 years ago. They enjoyed celebrating the milestone as colleagues and good friends. 

Mai-Wel’s PACE Setters timber products and light engineering division manager Bill Arbuckle said the ceremony was a proud moment. 

“It has been such a privilege to watch our supported employees’ confidence and skills set grow over the years,” he said.

“I remember when one of our supported employees started, they could only manage to work for half an hour a week.

“Now they work four days a week and they are such a great asset to the team.”
